The weather report was calling for wind by 1, so we headed out before breakfast to try and beat it to Mackinac Island. We pulled out of the marina around 7:30.

I know that Lake Huron can be as nasty as the other lakes, so we didn't want to take a chance with the weather getting bad, so here is one of the only sunrise picture we have while underway ....lol. I try to focus, but the boat is moving so it just doesn't work. Still pretty.

This is the mouth of the St Mary's River. At the place they call the 'False Detour' , which is likely where the name Detour Village came from. Not sure.

This lighthouse marks the turn onto Lake Huron. It is also most likely considered a 'port in a storm', based on the scrapes on the sides.

Lake Huron was kind to us. There were 1-2 ft waves, with very little swells. The wind was mild, probably not to 10 mph. It was supposed to be 15-18 by Mackinac, so hurrying. This is the first glimpse of the Mighty Mac. The Mackinac Bridge

Here is Mackinac Island. The marina we stayed in is the far left side of the picture. Might not even see it yet.

Here is the view from our dock. We are right against the boardwalk, mere feet from the Pink Pony.

Check this off the bucket list. When George and I came here years ago, we sat in the Pink Pony and fantasized about how cool it would be if our boat could be in this marina. It's such a long trailered ride that we sort of chuckled about it, but now here it is! Our boat is in the Mackinac Island Marina. Maybe not a big deal to some, but it sure was to us.

We went for a walk the 2nd day and found this great little bistro at the end of the island. It is connected to a resort somehow, but they let us have lunch there. Cute little golf course there too!

After that we stopped at the Butterfly House. I got so many amazing videos, but they won't load to this blog, so check out the pictures. They're amazing. We're been to some great butterfly houses, including Key West, but this is arguably the coolest.

After we got done being tourists, and stopping in every single shop in town (barely exaggerating), buying fudge, caramel corn, and ice cream, we went for a quick snack and cocktails at the Pink Pony Bar. The bartender took a picture of us.

We plan to leave here in the morning for Beaver Island.
