I wasn't really planning to come to this marina. We had sort of planned to be in the quaint little town of Oriental NC, named for an old ship of the same name. Allegedly some cute shops and restaurants. We were low on fuel, so I started shopping around and found the best price at River Dunes Marina, which - as it turns out - is 'ta hell and gone' from Oriental (really about 15 miles). Saving a buck a gallon on fuel was worth it though, so we planned for River Dunes.

Turns out it was a beautiful, though quiet, stop. It could easily have been a resort from a movie set, complete with spectacular homes, and a mega yacht. They put us on the face of a T-dock again, but here it was OK. The end of the river, extended specifically for the marina. Very little current or movement. We had planned to fill up and head over to Ocracoke Island in the morning. We were informed that the fuel pump was broken and wouldn't be fixed til Monday morning, so should still get out in time to leave by 11. Repair guy didn't show up. Ugh. We waited til the next day, as we were assured that he would be there first thing in the morning. He finally did show up, around 1 in the afternoon, which made us late getting out, and made for a 'sporty' trip to Ocracoke, but more on that later.

We went to the shops, and the restaurants in the resort, only to find out that they are closed on weekends......hahahahaha. Good thing we had stocked up in New Bern!
