The second day on the swamp was just as cool as the first day. I took so many videos, but I can't post them without first putting them on YouTube. Such a pain. I will with a few of them, but not all. Pictures will have to do. By the end of the swamp canal we were sort of over it. It really looks pretty much the same, all the way through. I really kept my eyes peeled, but didn't see a single creature larger than a cat. Dang it. Oh well.... got a few turtle pictures.

We left the Dismal Swamp canal and went right into Deep Creek, which is a feeder creek to the Elizabeth River, which dumps into Chesapeake Bay. The river got wider, and a lot deeper. Awesome. No more bonking stuff on the bottom. The entire Norfolk area is a giant naval yard, surrounded by giant-er shipping ports. We are such a small and insignificant little boat amidst all of those. A bit intimidating, but we kept our distance so all is well. I chose a marina at an easy area to maneuver on the Elizabeth River, and one that is close to town. It was a great little stop, with a really nice on-site restaurant, and the downtown area of Norfolk walking distance away. While we were there we toured the USS Wisconsin and the Nauticus Park. The pictures don't do this battleship justice. It is just so darned big. I feel bad for the sailors who man these ships. So much climbing, and so many decks. Enjoy the pictures!

We enjoyed an adorable little restaurant downtown named 'Saltine', and had some of the She-Crab Soup that we've become so fond of. We thought it would be a great place to walk to when our friends Chris and Lesley got there the next day. Turns out they were pooped, so we just went to the on-site restaurant. Still awesome.

We left the next day, headed for the York River.
