We woke up to a drizzly ugly day. Devon and Dolly were going to stay for a week or two and head home. Chris and Lesley were staying a week to visit with family nearby, so we went on ahead alone. The trip across the bay, even in the fog and drizzle, seemed so nice compared to yesterday. The waves were minimal, and you could sit without holding on. Not sure if I'm an ocean sailor.

I feared we wouldn't be able to see the boat traffic coming into New York Harbor. I had heard horror stories about it, and was a bit concerned. Maybe to the point of anchoring out and waiting for it to clear. We didn't do that, and trudged on. The weather didn't get better, but the water was calm and there weren't that many boats out in the weather. That's a good thing! We passed by many giant ships tied at anchor, waiting. There were ferry boats that were not moving, and there was very little recreational activity. Fisher people only endure so much I guess.

We got to the statue of Liberty, in the rain, and got closer than I think we were allowed to....lol. We got honked at by the tour boats, but never got arrested, so there is that. I think, even considering the drizzle, we got some pretty good pics. She was pretty impressive. I tried to feel what the immigrants felt coming in on their boats.

We got to the marina, in the rain still, so just waited. I wished we could have wandered around and checked things out, but in the rain it wasn't that much fun. I decided to just watch the Preakness Race that was on.

Later that evening when the rain cleared, I was able to see the big buildings that the clouds had obscured. Very impressive.

Tomorrow we will be in New York City and getting to hang out with Dan and Chris. I can hardly wait!
